The Salons @ Earth Week Celebrates Earth Week's Founding Themes

Earth Week is a full week of activities focused on environmental issues, and is celebrated across the globe. It is about raising awareness and encouraging people to make a practical difference. Small changes can have a big impact when they are added together.

Earth Week brings together numerous communities to rejoice in the environment, conservation and sustainability. It is based around Earth Day, held annually on April 22. Events worldwide are held to demonstrate support for environmental protection. It takes place in than 196 countries each year.

Earth Day began as an environmental teach-in in 1970 in the USA, and began internationally in 1990. It is co-ordinated by the Earth Day Network, and works with more than 50,000 partners. The Network is focused on building environmental democracy; they offer a combination of education, public policy, and consumer campaigns.
