FIT and it's commitment to Sustainability

The Fashion Institute of Technology is the perfect place for a Morning Salon. FIT is an internationally recognized college for design, fashion, art, communications, and business. Unlike many art and design colleges, they prepare students for professional excellence both in design and business, and are committed to innovation and entrepreneurship. The Morning Salon’s creative combination of TED Talks, Human Centered Design and Gamifcation is the perfect ‘fit’ with the philosophy of Institute.

FIT go beyond teaching and learning. They inspire leadership, impart a global perspective, and embrace inclusiveness. FIT commit to sustainability, and engage with community. They strive to develop innovative design and strategic business solutions that challenges the status quo, and have a lasting and sustainable global impact.

FIT has a Sustainability Council to create and support sustainability initiatives throughout the FIT community. Every year they organize a business and design conference at the FIT campus. The objective of the event is to inform, involve, and inspire the entire FIT community about sustainability, and how to incorporate sustainability into all aspects of what they do.

The Council also offers an annual grant fund of $15,000 to expand on campus sustainability initiatives. "Sustainability” projects relate to areas of social, environmental, and economic domains of human activity.

Projects might include:

Educational projects

Scholarly research for sustainable issues,

Creative and projects,

Procedural changes to daily campus operations,

New technology that impacts the campus in a positive and sustainable manner,

New methods of operating the physical campus,

Professional activities that support awareness of sustainability.
