Rick Kilmer, CEO of Flor is the Morning Salon Presenter for the Salons @ Earth Week

Rick Kilmer Earth Week Morning Salon Presenter

Rick Kilmer is the perfect presenter for Earth Week Morning Salon at FIT, as FLOR are committed to both creative design and sustainable business. Before becoming President of FLOR, Rick was the Vice President of Retail Operations. He is responsible for the profitable expansion of FLOR’s branded retail stores, and the resident expert on strategic planning, operational efficiencies and real estate development. He has proven success in driving sales and profitability for multi-channel, luxury home furnishings brands JANUS et Cie, and Kallista, a subsidiary of the Kohler Company.

Who are FLOR?

FLOR offers an ingenious modular floor covering system that blends form and function, alongside a commitment to environmental responsibility. The innovative system of carpet squares can be configured in any shape or size to create custom rugs, runners or wall-to-wall designs that are uniquely beautiful, easily adaptable and more environmentally responsible than conventional floor covers. Because the squares are connected using FLORdots™ - no nails, padding, or glue is used. They can easily be removed or replaced, allowing flexible design and maximum portability, while delivering remarkable performance.

At FLOR, environmental consciousness is built into every sourcing, design and production decision they make. As part of their commitment to sustainability they offer a Return & Recycle Program to turn old FLOR into new products; and use 100% recycled fibres.

For example, they are working with local partners from around the globe to turn discarded fishing nets into 100% recycled yarns, for use in all new FLOR styles. This keeps the nets out of the marine ecosystem, and provides additional income for fishing communities by FLOR purchasing the nets.

That’s not all. During manufacture they use renewable energy sources and technology that reduces waste and emissions. FLOR delivery boxes are easy to open, recycle, and reuse in imaginative ways. The carpets are low in VOC's, important for healthy indoor air quality. Making FLOR a truly sustainable business.
